About
Hello there! What to say about me? I’m Halliday, and I like to play with string. I always have, truthfully. When I was small, I made yarn dolls with my mom, or spiderwebs throughout the house. Those quickly evolved into macramé bracelets and lanyards by grade school. By middle school I was proficient at sewing and embroidery, then picked up knitting in high school. I learned to crochet while starting college.
In my mid 20s, there was a period where I thought I would try to make a living by selling my knitting and crochet projects and taking commissions. After a couple years, I decided the hours spent in creation felt less rewarding to me when the finished results were usually sent away to strangers in exchange for cash. I also didn’t want to lock myself away from my pets while crafting for fear of getting their fur on any WIPs.
Nowadays, my projects are for me and for my loved ones. When I feel called to produce more, I donate the excess to charity. I still greatly enjoy writing patterns to create items that are truly unique, and for have published these patterns on Ravelry for a number of years.
I decided that I wanted to write more about my projects and processes behind them than what I keep in my Ravelry project notes, which I keep very minimal and technical, so they’re easier to write the final patterns from later. Because WordPress development is actually my day job, this naturally manifested as a blog.
So, welcome to the website! I’m glad to have you here and following along. Feel free to ask any questions you can think of or otherwise comment on posts. My published patterns can now also be purchased directly on the website – all listed at the same price as on Ravelry. I haven’t finished adding all of them yet, but all are still accessible through Ravelry.
